Review by Frederick Barton (Cybersecurity Editor)

A common inconvenience in Mac OS X, which many users have complained about is the fact that it doesn't display a calendar when you click the clock in the upper right corner of the screen. Fortunately, you can fix this issue with Day-O. It is a simple and lightweight utility, with only one goal: to provide you with a calendar when you click the clock.

The application doesn't affect OS X's default clock, so you may want to disable it or set it to analog mode. Instead, Day-O places a new clock on the menu bar, which is almost identical to the original. The only difference is that it also displays the current date, but you can disable this if you want to.

If you click the new clock, a calendar will pop up in a small menu. You may switch to the next or previous months and return to the current one with small arrow icons. Additionally, you can open the system's date and time settings panel from this menu. The application comes with its own preferences panel as well, on which you can change the date and time format, enable or disable the aforementioned date, next to the clock and set the application to run automatically at login.

Pros

You can find a calendar when you click the system's clock. Day-O allows you to change the date and time format and make other basic tweaks. The application is offered free of charge and you can have it up and running in no time.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to address. Day-O brings what all Mac users have always wanted: a calendar for the clock.
